Hi, I'm totally new to Flash and I'd like to get started with it.
Now, after reading some posts on this forum I noticed that I couldn't get any idea by most basic Flash concepts that where mentioned. For example, I have no clue what a MovieClip is and how it relates to the program you're writing. Do you guys have any suggestions about sites, tutorials or books that give a good explanation of how Flash works, where a Flash program starts, what way of thinking I should adopt to make clean programs, how a typical Flash program is designed, etc., or even such detailed information as how and when it evaluates scripts? Some background about me 'requirements': I'm going to use CS3, since I believe in using the state of the art and I read that it follows a more strict object oriented design, so I understand from other posts that I couldn't use tutorials for Flash 8 or Actionscript 2. I have plenty of skills with Java, C and Haskell, so the thing that I'm looking doesn't need to be focused on programming. (although the ubiquitous Hello World application would be warmly welcomed )TIA, Jelle |

You seem well versed in the programming world, but if you are looking for the basic backbones of Adobe's Flash CS3, you might as well go back and look at the basics for Flash 5 and upwards.
A lot of the ideas and staples have been left or expanded upon since then, and CS3 is just a refreshing, fast, snazzy look to it all rolled up into a nice, efficient package. I got started with Flash 5 with this little movie. Flash Introduction I believe there is an AS3:Main too... let me look. Yup. NG BBS — As3: Main There you go, and have fun.
