China's female gymnast issues raise some interesting thoughts. The Olympics are about competition btw the best athletes worldwide. In my opinion age should not matter. The 16 year old age requirement is to prevent children from being exploited. But the way and the age that female gymnasts train I doubt would change if the rule was lifted. Aside from age, they competed on equal playing field which is probably why the outcry isn't as large as it could have been.

Just my thoughts on this.
