We all know Bff stands for Best Friends Forever, but how come Bf stand for boyfriend?
Shouldn't 'Bf' stand for 'Best friend'?
I want an answer.

Because there's already an abbreviation for 'best friend', BFF.
If BF would be Best Friend, there would be two abbreviatons pretty similiar, namely for 'Best Friend'. There would be no abbreviation for BoyFriend.

So, now there's both an abbreviation for Best Friend (BFF) and BoyFriend (BF)
