Default Rep system?

I was editing a post a bit ago, and I noticed a little scale.

Clicking on it, I realized it was for the Rep System.

How does this "Rep System" work?

I'm no expert, but I believe the more rep a user has, the more power they have when giving rep. This is for choosing dependable leaders for groups, picking out whos scores to trust, and seeing who's over all more reputable than others.

It's not used enough.

If you look above and to the right of my post right now you'll see a little pair of scales:

These are the scales of justice!

You can use them to leave positive or negative rep for any post that people make. Eventually all of the points will add up + people who keep making spammy posts etc. will see their rep starting to turn red wheras people who are making usefull posts will get more and more green!

The more rep you have + the longer you have been around the forum the more powerful your rep vote is.

Edit: I just left you some +rep for asking a good question, you'll notice it next time you click User CP

I hope to eventually balance that out. I'm trying to think of ways to make the forum itself more popular and relay them to Gaz. Got any ideas? I'm currently working on a rep/userpage flash thing. I suppose I can toss my progress up real quick.. here we go..userpage

Right now the rep is random between -75000 and 75000. the number that would give you the most full ring (not the highest rep) is 62400-62499 (four of every color)

The colored orbs that make the rep ring stand for the amount of rep you have. Since I have no definite numbers, I made the numbers really and low. The gap will probably get much smaller when I get some numbers, and when more people start using the damn system.

Black: -2500
Purple: -500
Red: -100 or 0~-100
Green: 100 or 0~100
Yellow: 500
Blue: 2500
White: 12500

Any suggestions on what I should do with this? (The stats right now don't update and do not match)

Each time you get repped, would you get one rep point?

It'd be REALLY cool if you had an option to make the little circles spin faster or slower.

What if the middle circle also spinned? But not orbiting like the orbiting circles, like a coin spinning vertically.

Yes. Unless you are reped by someone with a higher reputation. They can give more than 1 rep. An admin gives whatever rep a normal user would give*10. you start with 10 rep.

The speed thing is easy enough, but I don't know about the middle circle. What's the point of having it spin? The number can get bigger than it, so it's not like it's actually a coin, it's just like a base for the other orbs to revolve around.

It's already like that. I don't know the official numbers though. Once I do I'll show how much rep each user gives on their flash userpage.
