What should the amount of rep you can give be based on?

no just derepping should be taken from normal users cus they can't control themselves.
Many douchebag users go around randomly dereping.
Only trusted users should be able to derep and rep.

so far, if it was separated (and multi choice), it would look like this:

Rep: 8
Age: 5
Posts: 8
here is my logic behind the 5 choices:
if it is based on Rep, that would promote the whole "if you rep me i'll rep you", but it would make people that have been around longer have higher rep, also this would promote users to do good things.

if it is based on posts, that would promote spam, although (like crammarc said) this would promote people posting, keeping the forum lively: even if it is spam...

if it is based on Forum age, that would be like a reward to people who have been around longer, it would also keep "Newbs" at bay, although people who haven't posted in awhile and have gone inactive would still be getting this "award" - so i also think this "award" should only go to active members...

if mods are the only allowed to give rep (or it is based on actions), i think this would make everyone's rep significantly lower and anyone with current rep would have a great advantage. also this would make everyone be nice to mods, and i don't want people sucking up to me just because they want something. if it is based on actions, it would promote good actions such as reporting cheaters, and adding games to the site, hmm it would also make people donate crappy games, and accuse everyone at cheating.

the last option, having no one be able to rep, i don't like, i think the rep system is a nice addition to the site, and i wouldn't want to get rid of it.

My choice, i just think that making it based on posts would cause to much spam....

I think repping should be given to everyone...because although there are some strange people, the more repped people can reimburse those who were wrongly derepped, as they have a greater rep power. And tbh...the majority of people here are decent enough...though i still cant forgive those ***** who derepped me for leaving...
